This project draws inspiration from the intricate transformations of wool materials inherent in fashion production processes. It exemplifies the potential of soft fabrics, ubiquitous in the realm of fashion, to metamorphose into diverse spatial experiences through architectural intervention. Positioned as the central hub of fashion, the Woollen Museum serves as a beacon for such explorations.
Through meticulous armature interventions, fabric materials are transfigured into an interior architectural system tailored to accommodate specific programs and activities. The cohesiveness of the framework systems ensures a seamless yet dynamic transition of fabrics across various spaces of exhibition, conference, workshop, fostering clear circulations, expressive public gestures, and the collection of diverse educational experiences.
As the genesis of our spatial narrative, exterior hallway assumes the pivotal role of guiding the trajectory of interior design, seamlessly integrating with the modular framework intrinsic to contemporary architecture. Here, the modular fabric system undergoes a remarkable metamorphosis at various spatial thresholds, perpetuating fluid circulation patterns and functional adaptability. Within the exhibition space, fabric transitions into a versatile partitioning mechanism, while in the permanent exhibition hall, it elegantly envelopes diverse activity zones, delineating pathways of engagement. Conversely, within the temporary exhibition hall, fabric modules assemble into adaptable units, fostering dynamic spatial configurations.
Moreover, the fabric treatment within the conference area extends beyond conventional bounds, evolving from the modular ceiling system into a robust seating arrangement capable of accommodating diverse conference activities. In the studio realm, fabric assumes a multifaceted role, not only as a design element but also as an integral storage solution, enveloping the periphery to cater to the practical needs of the studio staff. At the reception, a unique circular fabric ceiling mimics the local mountainous terrain, honoring the natural resources vital to the textile industry. This architectural feature not only invites contemplation but also directs attention towards the serene river landscape, enhancing the overall sensory experience of the building.
